This radio program is produced as part of the Midsummer Night Session
Hordaland Art Centre’s international residency for 2012 is partly realised as a group seminar titled The Midsummer Night Session. The participants are Juan Gáitan (CAN/COL/MEX), Dóra Hegyi (HUN), Abdellah Karroum (MAR), Nana Oforiatta-Ayim (GHA/UK) and Arne Skaug Olsen (NOR).
Hordaland Art Centre’s residency programme emphasise discussion, rather than production. By giving priority to sharing of knowledge and ideas this model is supplementing the Art Centre’s Collaborative Research Residency. The invited participants have an articulated interest in communicating the ideas of contemporary art through education, text, curating and web radio. Discussions on current and future projects will take place in a site-specific framework in Bergen, the Bergen city mountain plateau, the island of Lygra and Fløen allotment gardens between June 29th and July 2nd in collaboration with several artists residing in Bergen, Norway.
Several of the participants have been residents in Bergen before, and some have ongoing projects involving artists and curators from Bergen. Artists Frøydis Lindén, Aleksander Stav and Knud Young Lunde, Anja Ulset and others will be hosting different programmes in this session.
The Midsummer Night Session is organised by Anne Szefer Karlsen, Director of Hordaland Art Centre.
